Once I completed the 2020 PopSugar Summer Reading Challenge, I knew I wanted to complete another one. I came across this challenge from Modern Mrs. Darcy. I love the idea behind Modern Mrs. Darcy, they encourage quality reading over quantity reading. Their 2020 challenge involved reading twelve books, which I just finished. Check out which books I read for the following prompts:

  1. A book published the decade you were born: Batman: The Killing Joke (Alan Moore, Brian Bolland, Tim Sale) [1990s]
  2. A debut novel: Such a Fun Age (Kiley Reid)
  3. A book recommended by a source you trust: The Scent Keeper (Erica Bauermeister)
  4. A book by a local author: Haunts of Mackinac (Todd Clements)
  5. A book outside your (genre) comfort zone: Vengeance Road (Erin Bowman)
  6. A book in translation: Norse Mythology (Neil Gaiman)
  7. A book nominated for an award in 2020: Not If I Save You First (Ally Carter) [Beehive Book Awards 2020 Nominees]
  8. A re-read: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (J.K. Rowling)
  9. A classic you didn’t read in school: The Kite Runner [Graphic Novel] (Khaled Hosseini, Fabio Celoni, Mirka Andolfo, Tommaso Valsecchi)
  10. Three books by the same author: The Bone Season, The Mime Order, The Song Rising (Samantha Shannon)

This is actually a really cool way to do a reading series. I am going to try this.

These are really great challenges. I will bookmark this one in case we have a lull in people suggesting books in my book club.
